Slope

This simple example shows the slope of the coastline in a Spencer Spit State Park on Lopez Island. The coastline has a very steep slope everywhere but right in the middle of the park. Using the slope layer shows that South of the spit the coast drops sharply into the water, while North of the spit there is flat land below the sharp drop off.

The slope layer also shows very intuitively that for a runner or biker, Bakerview Rd is a more gradual approach to the park than Highland Lane.
